The director

Gil Froès — nickname “Kheops”

Director, PT Kheops Nusantara Ventures

I’m Gil Froès. “Kheops” is my nickname — not part of my legal name. My path here has not been a straight line. It has shaped what I value in work, and what I hope to build in Bali.

Before Indonesia

For more than 25 years, I worked in hospitality and food & beverage. There were good years, difficult periods and the everyday responsibilities of running a business. I learned to pay attention to the welcome, the cleanliness, the food, the service and the details people remember after they leave.

When one chapter ended

In 2026, a hospitality business I had run in Belgium came to an end. It was a difficult setback. I do not see it as the end of my professional story; it made me stop, take stock and ask what I wanted to build next.

Why I chose to rebuild differently

That turning point clarified my priorities: to work independently, know what I recommend firsthand where possible, build relationships with people and choose care over volume. “Kheops” is my nickname — the name people know me by — and it is part of the name of this new venture. I carry it into this chapter as my own identity, not as a claim to a special story behind it.

Why Indonesia

I chose Indonesia, and Bali in particular, for a long-term project. I am drawn to the people, cultures, hospitality, landscapes, food, nature and diversity here. I come with an interest in learning and working respectfully alongside local people, not with the idea that this place needs me to define it.

The creation of PT Kheops Nusantara Ventures

I created PT Kheops Nusantara Ventures as the company behind Bali Nusantara Ventures, the travel identity visitors will meet. I intend to build it progressively and independently, with local collaboration at its heart. It is a new chapter, not a finished catalogue.

Why my vision is different

My objective is to personally evaluate as much as possible before it becomes part of a recommended journey: routes and real travel times, places to stay, food, service and experiences. Some things are still being explored and confirmed. Local partners bring knowledge I could not replace; I want to listen to them and work together rather than build something detached from the people who live here.

I do not want Bali Nusantara Ventures to feel like a list of generic excursions. My perspective is shaped by hospitality: thoughtful welcome, hygiene, practical quality and honest expectations. I want journeys with room for culture, nature, ocean, gastronomy, human encounters and slower discovery—not party tourism.

In my own words
“I don’t want to sell a Bali I only know from a brochure. I want to understand what I recommend.”
